Citizens are outraged after CBS News recently broke a story revealing horrific sexual abuse of a patient who has been in a coma for nearly 14 years. Tragically, no one realized what was going on with the patient until she began giving birth on December 29th. Thankfully, both the baby and the mother are healthy, but the mother remains in her vegetative state. It remains unclear who committed this atrocious act, but the Phoenix Police Department have already initiated a sexual assault investigation into the incident.

The victim, whose identity remains closely guarded, was reportedly under 24-7 medical care at Hacienda Healthcare. She had an accident nearly 14 years ago where she nearly drowned to death. Since then, she has remained in a persistent vegetative state. Medical staff were initially baffled when the patient, still in a coma, began moaning. Eventually, staff members realized she was in labor and began to assist with the birth. Staff were initially relieved when the baby boy was born healthy, but their moods immediately changed when they began questioning how the patient could have possibly conceived the youngster while being in a coma for over a decade.

Police are diligently working to uncover the details behind this incident. A spokesperson for the Hacienda Healthcare facility called the event “an unprecedented matter” and promised to get to the bottom of the matter.

Sadly, patients who reside in long-term care facilities are more at risk for being abused physically, sexually and emotionally. These populations are particularly vulnerable, and many are incapable of speaking out about what is happening to them.
