Authorities were shocked when a woman contacted them claiming to have been abducted by a United States Customs and Border Protection agent. After investigating the situation, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office has found enough evidence to suggest the woman’s tale is accurate, and she is extremely lucky to have gotten away with her life. The authorities discovered good reason to believe her abuser is a serial killer. In response, they arrested Juan David Ortiz, the Border Protection agent, on September 15.

The victim alleged that Ortiz attempted to kidnap her, but she escaped. Initially, the police planned on charging him with one count of aggravated kidnapping, but they uncovered disturbing details that connect the suspect with several unsolved murders. Two victims, both females, were found earlier on in the month along Interstate 35. Two more female victims were found over the weekend dumped in the same area. Police confirmed that all four victims were known prostitutes. Investigators are still attempting to discern the suspect’s motives for killing the women.

During a press conference, Sheriff Martin Cuellar of the Webb County Police Department confirmed that “the city can rest assured we have the serial killer in custody.” The suspect has been a border agent for over ten years. When police initially attempted to take the suspect into custody, he attempted to flee. He was discovered hiding out in a Hotel Ava parking lot in Laredo. He is now charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping and four counts of murder.
