Tragedy struck in Sebring, Florida, when a lone gunman decided to open fire at a SunTrust bank midday. At least five individuals were killed by the madman who then decided to call the cops on himself.

The incident began at around 12:30 P.M. on January 23rd. The gunman entered into the bank, began wildly shooting and then promptly called the cops. He reportedly told police that he had fired shots in the SunTrust and killed some people.

Responders immediately rushed to the scene to find the shooter barricaded inside. A SWAT team arrived to negotiate with the shooter, and they made their way inside. Cops were horrified to find the deceased bodies of at least five victims, whose identities have not yet been made public.

Police have not yet confirmed if the victims were bank customers or employees.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Zephen Xaver, voluntarily surrendered once he realized the SWAT teams had breached the building.

Police are baffled by this senseless crime with no apparent motive. The FBI, local police and Florida Department of Law Enforcement are all working together to investigate the motive behind this violent shooting.

Records obtained from Florida’s Department of Corrections revealed that Xaver was previously training to become a prison guard at Avon Park Correctional Institution, but he had just resigned on January 9th. The Department did not report having any previous issues with the suspect.

Xaver was also studying at Stevens-Henager College, but he unexpectedly withdrew from classes in December.
