Eric Stagno, a 34-year-old resident of Massachusetts, was arrested after attempting to pull a strange stunt at a Planet Fitness.
The suspect reportedly arrived at the Plaistow Planet Fitness gym before stripping away his clothing. Witnesses reported seeing the man walking around and performing strange exercises. Eventually, Stagno began using the yoga mats and practicing extremely revealing stretches. Other members of the gym told police that the man’s actions left them feeling “unsafe,” “sick” and “disgusted.”
Police arrived at the scene and discovered the suspect on his knees, nude and carelessly doing yoga moves. They approached Stagno and informed him that his behavior was unacceptable. The suspect allegedly insisted to cops that Planet Fitness was a “judgment free zone” according to the company’s iconic slogan. He refused to back down on his interpretation of the gym’s policies.
Due to the suspect’s adamant protests and refusal to put on clothing, the suspect was apprehended at the scene. He has been charged with disorderly conduct and indecent exposure. The suspect was taken into jail but later released after posting $1,000 in bail. He is expected to return to the Plaistow Circuit Court to face his charges on September 21. Reports indicate that Stagno has hired a personal attorney, so it’s likely he will be fighting against the charges set before him. It’s unclear whether Planet Fitness had specific policies against exercising nude, but in Massachusetts it is against the law to engage in lewd behavior in public that is offensive to other people.
