On March 24th, authorities were saddened to discover a deceased body floating in the lake in Lincoln Park, New Jersey. The police became increasingly concerned when they surmised that the victim, a 45-year-old nanny, had been sexually assaulted before being strangled and drowned. Detectives were determined to track down the person responsible for violent crime.

After only investigating for about a week, authorities are convinced that they’ve identified the culprit. The suspect, who has been identified as 33-year-old Jorge Rios, has been arrested. Currently, he’s being charged with kidnapping, murder and aggravated sexual assault.

The police believe that the victim, Carolina Cano, was jogging in Lincoln Park when she was attacked. According to Cano’s roommate, the victim went on similar runs every morning before she’d head off to work. Cano and her roommate live only a few short blocks from the park. Nearby surveillance footage of the park was found, and authorities found video evidence of what they believe was her final moments before being kidnapped. Between 5:45 and 5:50 A.M., Cano can be seen on the tape entering the park alone. She can be seen jogging into a dark area of an open field before she disappears from view. She’s never seen on the tape again.

When Cano didn’t show up for church services on March 31st, members of her congregation knew something was wrong. According to her fellow churchgoers, Cano never missed a day of services. Frankie Ramos, one of Cano’s neighbors, explained to media outlets how his wife had begun calling local hospitals in a desperate attempt to ensure Cano was alright. That’s when the congregation heard about the news that a body had been discovered in Lincoln Park.
