Ten children have been removed from the care of their California parents after authorities discovered the family living in ‘horrible’ conditions. The unacceptable state of the family home was discovered when the family’s 12-year-old child was reported missing. The Fairfield Police Department was able to recover the child and return him home, but they were appalled when they saw the conditions of the household.

According to officers, the state of the home was so deplorable that they immediately began an impromptu health and safety search. The area was deemed unsafe as officers discovered the bathroom was littered with human feces, ten children lived in squalor in one room and the household was deemed unsafe.

After removing all the children from the home, authorities conducted independent interviews with every child. Several children reported suffering intentional abuse at the hands of their father for “sadistic purposes.” Investigators did find wounds on some children including burns, bruises, puncture wounds and injuries that appear to have come from pellet gun shots. The children described a long history of abusive incidents that date back to 2014.

The children’s mother, Ina Rogers, has been arrested and charged with child neglect. On April 9th, she posted $10,000 for bail. Her husband, Jonathan Allen, faces seven counts of felony torture and nine counts of felony child abuse. The Solano County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that the abusive incidents range from January of 2015 to March of 2018. The 29-year-old is being held at Solano County Jail on a $1.5 million bail.
