The Huffington Post reports that two additional arrests have been made in the double murder of a mayor and his wife in North Carolina. Mitchel Brinson and Dakeithia Nesha Andrews were arrested on suspicion of their involvement with the murders, which occurred last week.
Brinson, 18, is being held for first degree murder and Andrews, 31, may face charges of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The first arrest in the case was made last Thursday, when Keith Earl Williams, 25, was charged with first-degree murder. He had been released from prison August 28 after serving time for assault with a deadly weapon and felony possession of a firearm by a felon in 2017.
Gary and Jackie Skelton were found fatally shot in their home and were last seen alive on Wednesday. A welfare check was requested when they hadn’t been heard from. Gary was the mayor of Leggett and Jackie was a nurse. They have three children and several grandchildren.
No motive for the murders has been released publicly yet.
