CBS News reports a two teens have been arrested in Fort Worth, Texas on capital murder charges for allegedly shooting a woman during a break-in. The two boys are aged 13 and 14.

During the break-in and shooting, the boys allegedly stole a phone and video gaming device.

The victim, Yesenia Gutierrez, and her 3-year-old son were home on Friday, May 18 around noon when the boys broke into their apartment. She was later discovered in a pool of blood by her husband, Carlos Landa.

Landa told police he was at work when he got a text from his wife at 11:05 a.m., asking him to answer his phone. He texted back asking what was wrong, but his wife did not respond. He then left work early and went home to find the apartment door kicked in and his wife on the floor.

The boy was not injured. Members of Gutierrez’ family have said she fought to keep the suspects out of her son’s room.

After reviewing surveillance footage from the area, police located the suspects. An adult was also arrested who possibly led the two teens to the weapon used in the murder.

One suspect claims to be a “300 Crip Mafia” gang member and said he kicked in the door and took Gutierrez’ phone. He said he then walked outside to wait on the other suspect. According to the second suspect, the two had looked through the apartment window and saw the gaming device, thinking it would be an easy score. The second suspect told police that the first suspect shot Gutierrez in the back of the head when she turned away from them.
