Medina Police Department News

National Police Week. Honoring those that have fallen in the Line of Duty as well as those that serve every day.

The Medina Police Department would like to publicly recognize the Lifesaving efforts recently taken by two of our Officers. On Saturday May 5th at 3:53pm Officers were dispatched to a potential drug overdose. Officer Christian Navas and Officer Cory Collins quickly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the subject was not responsive. Officers rendered first aid including multiple doses of nasal Narcan administered by Ofc. Navas. Shortly after the subject regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital by Medina Ambulance. Within the last 6 months all MPD Officers received training on how to give Narcan and were provided with Narcan overdose kits. Without the quick and decisive actions of these Officers, the results could potentially have been deadly.

Just a small note.. Initial responding Officers located the threat within 3 minutes of arrival. The “suspect” was quickly and quietly taken out of play to allow the drill to continue and ensure training value for later arriving units. The suspect was kept in a staging area, then later reinserted into the exercise to allow interaction between Officers and the suspect. Great job by all involved !!

Outstanding job today by all involved!!

**Reminder.. An Emergency Preparedness Drill will be conducted at the Medina High School between 11-3pm on Friday April 20th. Police, Fire and EMS will all be participating. Expect Emergency vehicle traffic in the area and please avoid the Medina Central School campus. Please like and share.**
