We will never forget! Today is a day to honor and remember the victims and the heroes that responded to the events of 9/11/01.

The Village of Ballston Spa’s 16th annual “Swimming Under the Stars” event is going to be held on August 4th 2018 at the Ballston Spa Village Pool on Ralph St. This year’s event was not scheduled due to a lack of funding, the Ballston Spa PBA sought a partner to host the event. Tim Sanders the owner of Sander’s Meat Market on Doubleday Avenue gladly agreed to sponsor the event. The event will be on August 4th 2018 from 8:00 PM to Midnight. WHAT: 16th Annual Swimming Under the Stars WHEN: Saturday August 4, 2018 from 8:00 PM to Midnight WHERE: Village of Ballston Spa Pool 29 Ralph Street Ballston Spa, NY 12020 This year’s event will be held on August 4, 2018 from 8 pm to midnight. The Swimming Under the Stars Event is open to all residents in the Ballston Spa Central School District. The event offers free admission to the pool, a BBQ, music by DJ Mark Hersh, a marshmallow roast, raffles and give aways. The first 100 people will receive a free t-shirt. Sander’s Meat Market will be offering steak tips and marinated chicken for a small fee. All proceeds will go toward funding next years event. This event was made possible through a public and private partnership between the Village of Ballston Spa, The Town of Milton, The Ballston Spa Police Benevolent Association, Sander’s Meat Market, T-Shirt Graphics, DJ Mark Hersh and the Ballston Spa Fire Police.

Last Monday, Ballston Spa Police captured a wanted suspect out of Warren County for drug sales. We are committed to stopping the sale of drugs no matter if it is within our Village or not. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Village of Whitesboro Police Department and the Family of Officer Kevin Crossley who died as a result of a line of duty car crash last night.

The Ballston Spa Police Department would like to acknowledge all the hard working men and women of the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center. These men and women are rarely seen but often heard, they are the ones that answer the 911 calls on the worst day of a person’s life. Wether it be giving emergency medical instructions, keeping a victim calm, talking down a suicidal person or getting their Officers home safe, they answer the call every time with professionalism. The Ballston Spa Police Department would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the Cambridge-Greenwich Police Department who have unexpectantly lost Chief George Bell to a heart attack. Chief Bell served for more than 39 years in Washington County and was a tireless and dedicated public servant. He will be missed.

It is with great sorrow Chief David Bush announces the passing of Patrolman William Marshall. The Ballston Spa Police Department sends its deepest condolences to Patrolman Marshall’s family and friends. After his retirement from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office William Marshall remained on the job as a Patrolman, his years of experience and dedication to the job made him a great asset to our agency. He will be greatly missed.

The Ballston Spa Police Department would like to say farewell to Chief Charles Koenig, retiring after 36 years of service! In his 36 years of service with BSPD Chief Koenig served as a Patrolman, K-9 Patrolman, Sergeant and Chief of Police, a position he has held since 1990. In his position as Chief he began the D.A.R.E. Program in Ballston Spa Schools, a Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Program, increased the Road Patrols, and was appointed to the Division of Criminal Justice Services Law Enforcement Accreditation Council by Governor George Pataki.
