The Stillwater Police Department hosted their annual Domestic Violence Awareness press conference. The event was in timing with the month of October, which is designated as National Domestic Violence Awareness month. The goal was to shed a light on domestic violence and its devastating effect on society in general. Stillwater Police have collected over 5200 donated cell phones since 2003. These phones were handed over to advocates for distribution to victims for use in calling 911 if they find themselves in harms way by an abuser. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Office of Senator Kathy Marchione, NYS Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner, Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen, Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo, Stillwater Town Supervisor Ed Kinowski, Wellspring of Saratoga Springs, Mechanicville Area Community Services Center, DeCrescente Distributing Company, Toyota of Clifton Park, Ballston Spa National Bank (Stillwater), Wiley Brothers (Schaghticoke), Mechanicville Express Newspaper.

The Stillwater Police Department recently welcomed a group of girl scouts to their station, where they were given a tour and some assistance with their first aid and safety badge requirements. The group represented the Stillwater Girl Scout Troop 1261 with Troop Leader Kim Maynard. Sgt. Paul Pecor and Ptl. Matthew Dunn discussed safety topics including what to do if they were lost, how to get help from 911 and how to talk to first responders.

Stillwater Family Day is in full progress at Riverside Veterans Park on East St. Safe Child ID cards, free rides, gun locks, great food. Fireworks tonight at 9:00 pm. Beautiful weather! Come and join us.

Thank you Ford's Childcare Center for inviting members of the Stillwater Police Department to stop by and talk to the children about bicycle safety this morning. The children were not only given safety tips, but were allowed to check out the interior of police units as well. All received ice cream coupons as a reward for their participation in bike safety.

The Stillwater Police Department participated in the Stop DWI press conference held earlier today at DeCrescente Distributing Company with the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and several other local law enforcement agencies.

Members of the Stillwater High School Student Government participated in a campaign in which they collected cell phones for victims of domestic abuse. The phones will be turned over to local advocates for distribution to victims. A heartfelt thank you goes out to these awesome students and their Student Government Adviser, Katie McBride.

Stillwater Post 490 will be hosting a Memorial Day parade on Friday May 25, 2018 at 6:00pm. The parade route will be along Hudson Ave in the Village of Stillwater. Traffic will be impacted and motorist are asked to seek alternate routes during this time. Please share with family and friends.

Sgt. Paul Pecor of the Stillwater Police Department participated in the Safe Spring Student Leadership Conference held today at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. Sgt. Pecor conducted a workshop session regarding the dangers of distracted and impaired driving. Stillwater Central School SADD Club members (Students Against Destructive Decisions) were also present. Stillwater Police participated in an Active Shooter drill with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and Mechanicville Police at DeCrescente Distributing Company earlier this morning.

Sgt. Paul Pecor of the Stillwater Police Department recently spoke to 11th graders at the Stillwater Central School on the dangers of distracted and impaired driving. The presentation included having students operate the Distracted Driving Simulator, which was provided by the Saratoga Automobile Museum (SAM).

A group of Stillwater Cub Scouts Pack 4035 visited the Stillwater Police Department this evening. The group, with their Assistant Cub Leader Nicole Berthiaume were given a tour of the station. The attentive group had many questions regarding the role of police officers and the equipment they use. They were later treated to delicious Stewart's Ice Cream. It was an enjoyable visit for all!
