Having lunch at our local Erick Main Street Cafe supporting our local business Breakfast 7 days a week from 5:30-9:30 Lunch Monday- Saturday and every other Sunday from 11-2 the other Sunday is 11-3 Dinner 6-10 Monday Friday and Saturday

The Erick Police Department and the Beckham County Sheriffs Office responded to reports of subject breaking into vehicles and a suspicious vehicle driving around with them. Upon responding to the call, deputies observed the described vehicle leaving Erick towards Delhi. Units attempted traffic stop which lead to a pursuit ending in Greer County as subjects threw stolen property from fleeing vehicle. The pursuit ended at a residence in Greer County where suspects left on foot in different directions. After searching the area one suspect returned to vehicle and was apprehended at scene. Two other subjects were located later on in the day and were apprehended by the Greer County Sheriffs office. After interviews a majority of stolen property was seized from suspects vehicle to include; firearms, wallets, purses, music equipment and other miscellaneous items. We have received calls from victims identifying some of the property, however a large majority of items still have been unclaimed. Please check your vehicles and if you are missing any items please contact the Beckham County Sheriffs Office and and Erick Officer will be in contact with you.

The Erick Police Department received reports of a threat towards our school this evening during school. Units with Erick Police Department and the Beckham County Sheriffs Office responded to our school and conducted safety protocols to safeguard faculty and students. After investigation and search of facility we were not able to identify any active threat towards our school system but did identify the source of the threat and have addressed the situation. We have no reason to believe this threat was an active threat but more of a hoax. We greatly appreciate the cooperation with our school system and the support of the Beckham county sheriffs office. Parents please talk to your children and explain the importance of letting someone know of any threats towards our school systems. Thank you we will continue to conduct routine security checks and safeguards to provide safe school facilities for our children and faculty.

The Beckham county Sheriffs Office and 911 system is back connected and in service.

The Erick Police Department has received information in regards to our community having difficulties being able to reach the 911 center or Beckham County Sheriff's Office for Police, Fire or EMS response. We have set up a temporary dispatch at the Police Department if you need a response for services. If you need a response from any of our Emergency services please contact 580-526-3385 from a landline or cellular device and we will do everything we can to provide a timely response. Please assist us with letting family, friends and neighbors know of the situation and how they can contact us for assistance due to not everyone having access to internet, a computer or Facebook. Sorry it’s taken so long but we have receive results on the fox sent to Oklahoma City for testing. The center stated the fox tested negative for rabies but advised if more animals keep showing signs the were wanting to do more tests on them to figure out what is the issue. We haven’t had any more reports since the incident. Again if you do observe or come in contact with an animal acting strange or unusual please don’t hesitate to contact Beckham county dispatch for assistance.

PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT Erick Police Department has received multiple calls in regards to foxes acting sickly. Due to the situation, these animals have had to be neutralized upon arrival. We STRONGLY encourage that if you observe one of these animals acting unusual or out during the day to contact the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office (580) 928-2121 for a police response. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE CONTACT. We have been in contact with the local game warden. After discussing the situation, we believe that the foxes have contracted rabies and pose a threat to small children, household animals and livestock. Parents please be observant of where your children are playing and don’t not hesitate to contact us for assistance.

The Erick Police Department has been advised off cellular service issues and its officers are also being affected by this. If you have an emergency please use a landline and contact the Beckham county sheriffs dispatch at 580-928-2121 or 911 if emergency for assistance please do not try to contact the officers directly due to inability to receive cellular service.

On a follow up from the arrest the Erick Police Dept has been out and recovering a large amount of property stolen from the series of burglaries in town due to cooperation from many different subjects connected to the incidents. The investigation is still on going and leading to the recovery of most of the items. We hope everyone can sleep a little easier tonight knowing that the subjects involved have been identified and we will be working with our district attorney to make sure charges are properly filed for their actions.

The Erick Police Dept has been working an investigation on a string of burglaries in town involving abandoned or empty residence with property still inside. After a very informative call from a subject Asst Chief Jason Atwood followed up on the lead and was able to identify and locate some items in a few of the burglaries which lead to one suspect being arrested and several others suspects being identified and investigated. Units were out until late hours collecting and following up on leads and talking with witnesses. We would like to thank all parties with assisting in providing information leading to the arrest that has hopefully brought an end to the burglaries as well as Asst Chief Jason Atwood's determination and commitment to the Citizens of Erick. The Erick Police department received threats of violence towards school personnel this evening. Upon information officers from multiple agencies responded and secured both schools and had both facilities conduct a full lock down for the safety of faculty and children. Both facilities were secured upon officers arrival as further information was gathered and a team of officers responded to possible location of the suspect. Officer located subject on scene where suspect was arrested and transported to detention facility pending charges at this time there are no active threats for the schools that we can identify and have released school operations back to normal. We greatly appreciate the cooperation from our schools, surrounding agencies and the community.

The Erick Police Department received report of a vicious dog trying to attach residence at the South Gate apartments off S. Birch. Upon arrival officer investigating the report was attacked by a dog that had to be neutralized for the officer and public safety. We greatly apologize for any fear or concern and appreciate the assistance from the public to resolve this situation in a timely manner.

The Erick Police Department received a report of live rifle ammunition located on a school bus. Due to safety of our students the faculty and the public we conducted standard procedures for any threats towards are school. We performed all standard cautions and procedures and could not observe or locate any further evidence that would cause us to believe any further threats towards our schools. We greatly appreciate all the cooperation in this matter.

It's that time of year again! The Erick Police Department will be hosting the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Game Wardens Hunters Education course on October 7th starting at 8AM @ the Erick community Building located at 103 W. 2nd in Erick, Oklahoma. Please register on the ODWC website and select the course on the 7th in the City of Erick.

The following subject has been arrested recently for theft from a local business in town and is associated with subjects that have been and are currently under investigation for embezzlement and theft charges please use caution before considering employing this subject.

The Erick police department has been informed of 8 subjects that fled the scene of a police chase in wheeler county from a Texas DPS trooper. 2 subjects have been reportedly taken into custody, one of which attempted breaking into a Texas troopers residence. The subjects could possibly be in the area; if you observe or make contact with anyone that seems suspicious or unfamiliar in the area please contact the Beckham county sheriffs office dispatch @ 580-928-2121 Subjects were reported to appear Hispanic subjects, unknown sex or clothing description. The two that were taken into custody were covered in dirt, grass and stickers. Again if contact is made please contact Beckham County sheriffs office
