Nearly half of all car seats are installed incorrectly. On average, two children under 13 were killed per day in 2016 while riding in cars, SUVs, pickups, or vans. Make sure your child is in #TheRightSeat every time. Get help from a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician in your area by finding a location here: https://www.nhtsa.gov/equipment/car-seats-and-booster-seats#installation-help-inspection or, if local, contact the Mauldin Fire Department at (864) 288-5094.

Every day in America, millions of parents and caregivers travel with children in their vehicles. While some children are buckled-in properly in the correct car seats for their ages and sizes – most are not, if they are buckled up at all. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 46 percent of car seats are misused. To help combat this issue, Mauldin Police Department is participating in Child Passenger Safety Week, a campaign dedicated to helping parents and caregivers make sure their children ride as safely as possible – every trip, every time. Child Passenger Safety Week runs through September 29, 2018. We will conducting education and enforcement efforts throughout the week to raise awareness about the dangers children face when they are not buckled up properly. An important reminder As the threat of heavy rainfall approaches this evening, please be aware of ways to keep you and your family safe. We are prepared to close roads if necessary. Do not drive around a barricade - barricades are there for your protection - turn around and go the other way. Please do not attempt to drive through deep water. Be especially cautious during the night when it is harder to recognize flood dangers. If you have an emergency call 911. For Non-emergency, please call 289-8900 ext 9.
