The suspect in this case, CHASE ALLEN SPENCER, was taken into custody by North Dakota law enforcement officials. He is currently being held in the Williams County Jail in Williston, ND with no bond.
**UPDATED** RELEASE INFORMATION 10/11/2018
The suspect in this case is CHASE ALLEN SPENCER Age 27, White Male, 5’9” Tall, 135 lbs., Red Hair, Blue Eyes.
Spencer is originally out of the Ray, North Dakota area and was most recently believed to be in the Denver, Colorado area. It is likely he was traveling through the region on his way back to North Dakota, when the crimes in Spearfish were committed. It is unknown at this time if he is still travelling in the region and he is most recently known to be in North Dakota.
Spencer is currently wanted for Failure to Appear on charges similar to the crimes committed in Spearfish, which occurred in the Ray, ND area in April. He also has an active warrant in Colorado for Forgery. The Spearfish Police Department will continue to investigate Spencer’s involvement in the residential burglaries and other crimes committed in Spearfish on October 10th, 2018.

ORIGINAL RELEASE INFORMATION FROM 10/10/2018 BELOW
The Spearfish Police Department is investigating several residential burglaries that occurred in the area of Tranquility Lane in Spearfish during the early morning hours of October 10, 2018. Some of the residences that were entered were occupied at the time. No forced entry was found at any of the scenes and it is believed access was gained through unlocked doors. Financial tools such as credit cards and cash appeared to be the targeted items. Several vehicles in the Sandstone Addition area of Spearfish were also burglarized during the same time frame and a vehicle was stolen outside a residence located on Branding Iron Drive. The stolen vehicle was later recovered wrecked on Highway 85 in Harding County, South Dakota.
Evidence from the scenes of these crimes, surveillance videos obtained and investigative information developed, indicates a single suspect and that this suspect likely left the area in the stolen vehicle and is ultimately believed to be in the Williston area of North Dakota.
