Another burglary occurred in Miner County last night. This is a reminder to all who keep up with the page to make sure you always lock your doors and take your keys out of your vehicles. If you see suspicious activity please contact the sheriffs office as soon as possible and report the activity.

Please be aware of unusual activity, people, vehicles, etc. If it catches your attention let us know. The information maybe explainable or possibly lead to an arrest of someone that has been breaking the law. That you for reading this post.

Just a reminder we will be activating the storm sirens in all the communities in Sanborn County that can be remotely activated. Once activated the sirens will sound for approximately 3 minutes. Woonsocket sirens will be sounded at 10:30. This is being done so the kids can practice tornado safety.

Will the burglars of the Country Pumper and Buckshots turn yourselves in. This will eliminate your stiff neck from always looking over your shoulder. By doing this you can tell the judge that you have repented and will now be a great person. Thank you from the SHERIFF’S office.

With the calls we’ve received in the last 12 hours it’s obvious we cannot say it enough. There is NO TRAVEL ADVISED in Sanborn County. There is also NO TRAVEL ADVISED in this part of the state. The highways are impassable, the county roads are impassable. We cannot get to you if you are stranded. If you decide to venture out in this and get stuck unless it is a real emergency we are not able to rescue you. Stay home watch TV. Do a puzzle. Clean your basement. Do something other than drive.

We have been contacted by DOT that they are suspending winter maintenance on all roads in Sanborn County until 6 am. Saturday morning. At this time the sheriffs office is issuing a NO TRAVEL ADVISED for Sanborn County.

Here is one of the photos of the suspects in the burglary of the Country Pumper. They kept their faces hidden but if anyone recognizes the clothing or bag the suspects have please contact the Sanborn County Sheriffs Office. The person carrying the bag is believed to be between 6’ and 6’3”. The other suspect is believed to be between 5’8” and 6’. The owners of the Country Pumper are offering a $1000 reward to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible.

National Weather Service is forecasting 12 to 18 inches of snow for Sanborn County. Heed the warning from the South Dakota Highway Patrol. We are giving the same warning...

At 11:41 p.m. April 10, 2018, persons broke a large window at the Country Pumper by Forestburg. They entered the Pumper and stole products. Video picture downloads will be published in the very near future. Any information can be called to the Sanborn County Sheriff’s Office or Mitchell Crime Stoppers.

IRS- I HAVE A WARRANT SCAM IDENTITY THEFT (W-2) PET SITE SCAMS: All three have happened in Sanborn County in past month. IRS with a warrant will not ask you to go to Walmart and buy Apple Itunes cards, victim out $1500.00, IRS shows up in PERSON. IDENTITY THEFT: all information correct except Address on W-2. PURCHASE OF PET: Information looked good, CLUE requested Money order to person then requested a change of names. Biggest item that clued victim was shipper wanted more money. A check of the shipper showed did not exist. Victiom out $600.00. SCAMMERS don't have feelings, they will intimidate, comfort and lie, all they want is your hard earned money. Check out extensively before dealing with site. Hang up on IRS I HAVE A WARRANT PERSON. Check out phone numbers by typing them in, very often it will show scam number. In the IRS scam the 800 number was to a large bank in South Dakota, they were using to show up on your phone.

Recently person or persons damaged the restroom doors, storage shed door, fence and firepit at Rossi Park in Letcher. It is also believed those responsible had a bonfire in the road. Mother Nature appears to be coming to visit this weekend. If at all possible stock up on what you may need for a couple of days stay. This way you don’t have to travel, (depending on job or if you have a place to stay where you work). If you are able the you can stand by the window and admire mother nature’s tantrum. 😀

Depending on which weather map and channel you listen to some type of weather is coming. The bottom line is to use winter driving caution. And keep in mind the changing conditions. But when all is said and done Mother Nature is the one that will decide. Be careful out there.
