18-SO-0063 On 11-07-2018 at approximately 2130 hrs, Deputy Carter initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle along US Hwy 380 East of Jayton for traveling 104 mph in a 55 mph zone. Upon contact with the driver, Deputy Carter could smell a strong odor of marijuana on or about the driver. Upon search of the vehicle, Deputy Carter located approximately 1.4 grams of THC wax and approximately $2500 cash. The 20 year old white male was arrested for Possession CS PG 2 >= 1G < 4G, a 3rd Degree Felony. Subject was processed and later transported to the Garza Co. Jail.

Kent Co. Sheriff Case #18-SO-0060 On 10/22/2018 a person contacted the sheriff's office in reference to finding a piece of equipment along SH 70 North. If you lost the equipment please contact the sheriff's office to describe the equipment and claim ownership.

**39th District Court, Kent County** In February 2016, Carolyn Kim Isham was arrested by the Kent County Sheriff's Office for Manufacture/Delivery CS PG 1 >4G < 200G. Isham was placed on 10 years probation. On 10/22/2018, Isham was found to have violated her probation and was sentenced to 7 years TDC-ID. She is currently awaiting transport to TDC-ID.

We received this hummer through the 1033 Program which transfers excess military equipment to civilian law enforcement agencies. Paint and graphics was purchased using drug seizure funds at no cost to taxpayers. This vehicle will be used in any situation that our patrol vehicles are unable to maneuver.

Kent Co. Residents - Please be aware that the KC Apraisal Office does have an Appraiser in the county. They will be in a Red Chevy pickup, just in case you see them parked around. They do have white magnets on the side of the truck as well. Thank you.

UPDATE- @ 2025, severe warning with possible quarter size hail for Jayton until 2045

Jayton Residents: there is a water leak in town. 2 main waters lines are shut off until they are able to get it fixed. The East side of town is currently without water. We have spoke with City Employee's and they are trying to get it fixed as soon as possible. We will try to keep yall updated as we know more.

ATTENTION LIVESTOCK OWNERS: We have began to notice that there are more and more calls for cows being out of their fence in the county. We are looking to update our book for cattle owners and gather updated contact information so we can notify owners when their cows are loose or if there is some other emergency. If you have cattle {or other livestock} in Kent County, please email Raegan Mayfield with updated contact information along with brand, ear markings, and where your land is located.
