On Saturday morning, July 28, 2018, a deputy with the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Highway 70 and Farm to Market 1809, in Sweetwater, regarding a report of an estray. If you have any information that would assist us in locating the owner, please contact the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office at 325-235-5471.

Fireworks are an American tradition and as the Fourth of July holiday approaches, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office would like for everyone to have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July holiday. As a reminder, pursuant to City of Sweetwater Texas ordinance and county wide burn ban, the use or discharge of fireworks, including safe and sane fireworks, are prohibited, except for designated areas where considered private property outside Sweetwater city limits within the county. In addition to extra patrols focused on intoxicated driving over the holiday, deputies will be prepared to enforce laws related to illegal fireworks, issue citations, and confiscate fireworks being used outside designated areas.

Graduation isn’t the end of a tough journey; it is the beginning of a beautiful one…

At approximately 5:30PM, first responders were dispatched to the report of another traffic crash on Adrian bridge where a car-hauler crashed and blocked both westbound lanes of travel and the inside lane of travel on the eastbound side. The roadway is now clear; please slow down and use caution when traveling through the designated road construction areas.

On Monday, May 14, 2018, at approximately 7:59 AM, Deputy Eddy Hernandez was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Business 84, in Roscoe. Deputy Hernandez was traveling eastbound when a pickup traveling southbound on county road 104, entered the intersection directly in his path. To avoid a collision with the violator vehicle, Deputy Hernandez immediately executed an evasive maneuver. However, he was not able to avoid being hit by the pickup. After being extracted from his patrol vehicle, Deputy Hernandez was transported to the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital emergency room where he was diagnosed with a broken wrist. He is recovering at home from his injuries. The driver of the pickup was also treated at the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital emergency room.
