Effective 9:00 pm, Saturday, March 24th, a local emergency has been declared for Bland County due to extreme weather conditions and loss of power. Residents are asked to please use extreme caution and to please stay off all roads unless it is an emergency. A shelter is open at the Bland Rescue Squad building. Should emergency assistance be needed, please call 911.

Public Service Announcement for Bland County Residence. We have received several calls on a suspicious vehicle in Bland County during the daytime hours. The vehicle is described as a grey Doge mini-van with possibly a West Virginia tag. It is operated by a white male 30-40 years of age. If you observe a vehicle / person matching this description please call our office.

Recent DARE program graduates are pictured below from Bland County Elementary School & Bland County Middle School. The elementary school had its annual DARE day with a special demonstration by K9 Josie and handler, Officer Billings, (thank you both!). Deputy Dillow was the DARE instructor for the elementary school. For the first time in county history, the DARE program was also taught in the middle school. Deputy Ramsey instructed the middle school curriculum. Congratulations to all our county DARE graduates! Be proud of your accomplishment! Thank you to Deputy Dillow & Deputy Ramsey for going the extra mile to educate our youth!

In an effort to improve upon the security and safety of visitors and employees, the Main Street entrance will be closed. All visitors will be required to enter and leave via the rear of the courthouse, also known as the Jackson Street entrance for security screening. Improving courthouse safety remains a goal of county officials and this action is part of the continuous review of operations. #
