Public Service Announcement from the Director of Emergency Services for Charlotte County,VA Update to the citizens of Charlotte County,VA. The Emergency Services Coordinator and I are being very diligent in our efforts to ensure that we are doing all we can by being proactive regarding this weather event. We are in constant contact with VDEM and other agencies to ensure the utmost safety of our county and citizens. We've had several meetings with various agency departments personnel and continue to meet with and or coordinate our efforts. The weather reports we get seem to change every hour or so,so no one can actually say or give a definitive answer. The best thing to do is be prepared by having water to drink.. one(1) gallon per person per day and sufficient food items. Keep your medication together. If we have to implement an evacuation and that's the worst case scenario, we have a plan in place. I have submitted the necessary request for resources to the Commonwealth of Virginia. We have the county's Emergency Operations Plan in affect and we are monitoring communications and will advise the citizens accordingly. Please remain calm and be vigilant. Respectfully, Garland H.Hamlett,Jr. 1SG RET Charlotte County Board of Supervisors Director of Emergency Services
