Sheriff Shuler has employees that oversee inmates from Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority to pick up litter across the county. These crews collected 11,995 bags of trash in 2017. This is a Virginia Department of Transportation program. VDOT is responsible for collecting the orange bags, tires, and other large debris and disposes it at the end of the day. We all need to do our part to Keep American Beautiful, by disposing of trash in a receptacle or recycling can. Let’s Keep Smyth County Beautiful!!
