Press Release Warren County, VA On May 18, 2018 at approximately 12:12 a.m. the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a call referencing a male with a shotgun at 997 Wilderness Road who was very unstable and reportedly would not allow his wife and children to leave the residence. Deputies responding encountered the male who was identified as Kurt Jankowski, 33 years old, of 997 Wilderness Road. Communications were established with the suspect who then surrendered and was taken into custody. There were no injuries during the incident. Jankowski was transported to the Warren Memorial Hospital for an evaluation. He was released from WMH and was charged with 18.2-308.1:3. Purchase, possession, or transportation of firearm by persons involuntarily admitted or ordered to outpatient treatment (Class one misdemeanor) and served with an Emergency Protection Order. Jankowski is being held without bond at the RSW Regional Jail. Virginia State Police also arrested Matthew McKenzie 39 years old of 109 Keller Court Winchester VA for 18.2-308.1:4. Purchase or transportation of firearm by persons subject to protective order, stemming from the incident at 997 Wilderness Road. Matthew McKenzie was given a $10,000 unsecured bond by the magistrate. Press Release- Update on Sarah Genari Case Warren County, VA- The Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical examiner have determined the manner of death to be a suicide. Sheriff McEathron and the Sheriff’s Office express our condolences to the family and friends of Sarah. SEVERE STORM WARNING FOR OUR AREA: From the National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia, The potential for damaging winds of 75 mph today/Mon have increased. A squall line of thunderstorms is gathering strength in western PA / northern WV as of 2pm. This line will likely intensify as it moves over our Mid-Atlantic region. Timing right now of that line looks to be sometime between: * 3-5 pm for Cumberland MD / Petersburg WV * 5-7 pm near the Blue Ridge & Catoctins * 7-9 pm near the I-95 corridor Damaging winds may be more widespread behind this line than in typical events. Take necessary actions in advance to protect & be ready for wind damage. Jurisdictions may want to consult with utility partners for readiness. Large hail and an isolated tornado is also possible. Monitor NWS warnings & statements, and our social media @NWS_BaltWash . These will bring further clarity on timing & impact to the region. Note: Severe thunderstorms are possible in advance of that line. Our area is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch through 2100 hrs. tonight.

*Press Release* Warren County, VA – On May 13, 2018 at approximately 5am, deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Gooney Creek Campground for a report of a sexual assault. Baterdene Batjargal, 21 years old, from Arlington, VA, was arrested. Baterdene was charged with 18.2-61 Rape and 18.2-186.3 Identity Theft (Providing False ID). Baterdene is held without bond and is currently at RSW Regional Jail. *Press Release* Warren County, VA – It is with heavy hearts that the Warren County Sheriff’s Office reports that human remains were found May 8th, 2018 at approximately 2pm, during a search in the Granny Smith Road area of Apple Mountain. The remains were identified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as those of missing juvenile, Sarah Genari. Sheriff McEathron and the Sheriff’s Office would like to give our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Sarah. The following agencies assisted the Warren County Sheriff’s Office on May 8th, 2018; Dogs East, Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Prince William County Police Department, and the Virginia State Police. The investigation is ongoing however the Sheriff’s Office wants to ensure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety. Press Release- *Update* Warren County, VA On April 27, 2018 the Warren County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release seeking information on the whereabouts of Sarah Rose Genari, 16 year old white female. She was described as being 5’7” 106 lbs with hazel eyes and brown hair with highlighted tips. Sarah was last seen in the Apple Mountain area of Warren County on April 26, 2018 around 10:00 P.M. Sarah was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and any other clothing description is unknown. During the course of trying to locate Sarah the Warren County Sheriff’s Office conducted searches of the Apple Mountain area. The following searches were conducted: K-9, ground, air, water and thermal imaging devices with the assistance of the following agencies.
