On 9/23/18 officers with the WPD conducted a traffic stop for defective equipment. Upon officer interaction with the vehicles driver the smell of marijuana was noted coming from the vehicle. Upon further searching of the vehicle a green leafy substance presumed to be marijuana, a large bag containing methamphetamine, and a large sum of money was discovered. The vehicle driver was charged with possession with intent to distribute and additional charges pending. As a result of the traffic stop WPD officers in conjunction with BCSD conducted a “knock & talk” at residence in Whitesville. This led to an additional arrest of an adult female for also possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and additional charges pending. As promised to our citizens the WPD will continue to work to make Whitesville a better place. *All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The Whitesville Police Department and Town of Whitesville would like to thank the public for their help in identifying a suspect. Some things may seem petty but to help enforce our commitment to zero tolerance it’s necessary.

Anyone local agency that needs uniforms, please give Fire Rescue Tactical a chance for your business.

There is some confusion on social media. Our department is only assisting another agency in attempt to identify the suspects. We will forward any information received to the appropriate agency.

West Virginia is expecting heavy rainfall & severe storms beginning this evening (Thursday) & continuing through Friday & Saturday. It is better to prepare before the storm so that you do not have to be out in hazardous weather & driving conditions. Water (1 gallon per person), flashlights, batteries, ice, at least a 3 day supply of non-perishable food items, battery powered FM & weather radios, baby wipes, toilet paper, diapers, prescription medications, back-up oxygen tanks, garbage bags, car chargers for wireless devices, fuel for vehicles & generators, first aid kit Please make sure all pets & animals are safe & have food & water. Check on your elderly or handicapped family members & neighbors. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH WATER COVERED ROADWAYS: Turn around, don't drown... During these types of severe weather situations, 911 Centers are very busy, tasked with answering emergency calls & dispatching the proper agencies to handle EMERGENCIES. With that being said, UNLESS you are reporting an immediate emergency, please try contacting your local fire department or 511 before calling 911 to ask about road closures or questions of that nature.
