Welcome back to school, Hancock County! With the start of the new school year comes an increase of traffic in town with buses and parents dropping off and picking up their children. There is a school crossing guard at the intersection of Carolina Avenue and 6th Street both in the mornings and afternoons. Please obey their instructions as they assist the children safely across the always busy Carolina Avenue. Please remember to: •Watch for school buses. Red flashing lights and an extended stop arm indicate the school bus is stopping to load or unload children. State law requires you to STOP. •Be alert for school zones that have a reduced speed limit at designated times of the day. •Keep an eye out for children walking in the street, especially where there are no sidewalks. •Be alert for children playing and gathering near bus stops and for those who may dart into the street without looking for traffic. •Do not text or talk on your cell phone while driving. •Slow down and obey all traffic laws and speed limits. •Obey the Officers and Crossing Guard. We want to wish all students, teachers and faculty a great and successful school year!

Please be advised the Chester Police Department will have increased manpower during this power outage to insure the continued safety of our residents and businesses. Please call 911 for any emergencies!

With the 2018-2019 school year starting in two weeks, we would like to remind you all of the WV law regarding cell phone use while driving. There are two signs notifying drivers of such coming from East Liverpool via the Jennings Randolph Bridge, as well as one as you cross from Pennsylvania into West Virginia on Route 30. ***Please note: All comments will be deleted regardless of content. We didn't make this law. We only try to enforce it. No comments needed.

Happening today at 3pm.
