Nutter Fort Elementary PTSO Hosted a Community Trunk or Treat for the 2018 Halloween season. The Nutter Fort Police Dept. and Fire Dept. was able to spend this day celebrating Halloween with the surrounding communities children and their families. We had a awesome turn out and many cute costumes. We all here at Nutter Fort wish you a safe and happy Halloween this 2018 season. A special thanks to Kyler Shingleton and Emma Richardson for helping hand out the candy!!

On Oct.27th We will be participating in the Trunk or Treat at the Nutter Fort School it starts at 1400hrs to 1600hrs. On Oct.31 Nutter Fort will be having Trick or Treat from 1800hrs to 1900hrs.There will be activities at the Fire Dept afterwards

On October 18th the Dept. participated in the Trunk or Treat at Meadowbrook Mall. Ptlm. McManus was on hand and everyone had a good time.

There has been several thefts in the county in the last couple of weeks of utility trailers. if you live in Nutter Fort we are asking for you to make sure you have at least a lock on the hitch of the trailer so nobody can pull up and take the trailer. We drove around Town the last few days and saw several trailers that have no locks and saw several ATV and Side by Side vehicles with the keys in them. Be aware people are out looking to steal these right now. Don't make it easy for someone to take them.

This trailer and 4 wheeler was taken from a residence in Town Sunday night into Monday morning. if anyone has any information contact the department..

We are starting to check every street and property in the Town for dead storage vehicles. We will be giving out citations and towing vehicles.if you are a resident and know where a dead storage vehicle is please leave us a message and we will get to it as soon as we can. Thank You for your help in this matter.

There are several phone scams going on in the area.The IRS,the Publisher Clearing house, Microsoft ect just to name a few.If you get a call and it sounds too good to be true just hang up and do not give any of your personal information.

The department would like to remind the citizens of the town to make sure that your vehicles and valuables are locked up.We have taken a few reports for vehicles being entered during the nighttime hours. PLEASE remember to lock your vehicles at night. Due to it being the Christmas shopping season please remove your packages from your vehicles as well. If anyone has seen or sees anything or anyone suspicious please contact 911.

Just to make everyone aware we have arrested and charged the male that robbed the Speedway Friday morning. Thanks to everyone that called in and the work of every officer in the Department.We will continue to work on this case to make it have a successful outcome in court.

The Police Dept. received a call this morning to respond to the Speedway for an alarm.When we arrived we were advised by the clerk that the store had been robbed. We are attaching a photo of the suspect. if anyone has any information please contact the Department.

Just giving everyone a reminder that school opened today.Please pay attention if you are driving in our Town in the mornings from 7:20 and 8:00 and the afternoons from 2:30 and 3:00.There is alot of traffic during these times and traffic can back up.Please stay off your cellphones and watch your speed in the school zone. We will be watching for these types of violations and writing citations.If you are driving your children to the school you need to understand there will be no vehicles allowed to enter the bus loop. You will need to enter the lower parking lot when dropping off your children. If you leave the lot on the library side you must make a right hand turn.Citations will be issued for anyone who makes a left exiting the school on that end of the lot.Everything we do is for the safety of the children that are going to and coming from the school during these times.

I want to let everyone know the camper from 219 Burton Ave has been recovered in Berkeley County WV near Falling Waters.A subject was taken into custody.A special thanks to the State Police for the assist.We will continue to put our case together to make sure the subject faces all the charges we can file for him

On 06-19-2017 between the hours of 8pm and midnight the camper in the picture was stolen from 219 Burton Ave.The camper was parked off the alley (Old Dear Lane).We are requesting anyone who may have outside videos in this area to contact us or if anyone in the area may have seen anything to contact us.Please take a look at the camper and feel free to share it. Thank you for your help.

The Polce Department wants to make everyone aware that we are in the process of tagging all vehicles that are considered Dead Storage on the streets in town. Owners will have 5 days to remove them or the owners will be cited and the vehicles removed by us. Letters are being sent out to anyone who has a Dead Storage vehicle on their property.Owners will need to remove them according to the ordinance. If any resident knows of a vehicle that is dead storage you can send us a message and we will check on it. We are also working with the code enforcement officer to get properties cleaned up and grass mowed.

Just wanting to make everyone aware that there has been several vehicles tampered with and property taken from them. Also garages and outbuildings broken into in the surrounding area around Nutter Fort. We have not had any calls for it here in Nutter Fort but we are assisting other agencies with their investigations. Quiet Dell area,Chub Run area and Bridgeport area. Please lock your vehicles and keep anything of value out of your vehicles.If you see suspicious persons or activity call 911 and report it so we can check out the area.

I woke up to news this morning that one of my officers,James Mcmanus's home was on fire.THANK GOD Jimmy his wife and 2 boys were able to get out of the home.As you can see by the picture the family has lost everything they owned, Please keep his family in your prayers.I hope to speak with him soon

Do to all the hard work our officers have done. Nutter Fort Police Department received the AAA Community Traffic Safety Gold Award Thursday November 17, 2016. We take pride in making sure our roadways are safe to travel for your families and ours.

The 2nd phase of testing, agility test and interview, for those applicants that passed the written test will be given November 1st at 6:00pm.

Halloween Trick or Treat will be on October 31 from 6pm to 7pm. If you are a resident and you are going to give out candy Please make sure to leave your porch light on so the kids know where to go.The Police Department and the Fire Department will be patrolling the streets to keep the kids safe.

The Nutter Fort Police Department along with the Fire Department will be at the Nutter Fort McDonalds on Thursday November 3rd from 5pm to 7pm for a Safety Night. We are working on having a K9 officer there from the Harrison County Sheriffs Department.Bring the kids and let them have a good time for a couple hours. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

The written test for the Police Department will be Friday October 21st at 6:00pm at the Fire Department Training Room. Those applicants that pass the written test will move on to the Agility Test which at this time looks like it will be Tuesday November 1st at 6:00 pm. Any Questions call the department

The Police Department would like to remind everyone now that school is back in session and all the new parents of pre k and kindergarten children are on the roads this week to slow down in the school zones.The posted speed limit in a school zone is 15 mph.We will be enforcing the speed limit in this area.If you need to leave earlier in the mornings please do so.Be aware of all the children that are in the area of the school.Stay off the cellphones while driving.We will be handing out citations for anyone driving that is on a cellphone.We take the safety of the children very serious and will not tolerate any violations during the arrival of children to the school or the dismissal of the children after school. your help will be greatly appreciated.

The Police Department has taken reports today from citizens of someone getting into unlocked vehicles and going through the glove boxes and consoles.At this time the only thing that is being reported taken is money,mostly coins.This occurred in the Burton and Thomas Ave area mostly with one report not in that area.There was 3 younger males that was seen by a resident and they fled the area on foot around 0200hrs this morning. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate them. We will be investigating these thefts and we ask all residents to please lock your vehicles and take out anything of value.
