*****Locations***** Mason County Courthouse Annex Parking Lot & New Haven Fire Department National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. National Take-Back Day is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs. The last Take-Back Day brought in almost 1 million pounds of unused or expired prescription medication. This is the largest amount collected since the program began in 2010. This brings the total amount of prescription drugs collected by DEA since the fall of 2010 to 9,964,714 pounds, or 4,982 tons.

OFFICERS COMMENDED FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY EFFORTS. Deputy Mitchell Waugh was recognized for DRE of the year as well as having the 2nd highest number of Impaired Driving arrests. Deputy Justin Veith was recognized for having the 4th highest number of Impaired Driving arrests. The Mason County Sheriff’s Department was recognized as well for being the top County Sheriff’s Agency with 116 DUI arrests. We are extremely proud of our officers dedication to the safety of our community.

There is currently a fund raising drive for K-9 equipment being done via telephone. The Mountain State K-9 is sponsoring the Mason County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit and proceeds will be used for the purchase of equipment for K-9 and handler, J.A. Ferrell. The Mason County Sheriff"s Dept. would like to Thank The Point Pleasant Pizza Hut for donating pizzas for lunch yesterday.

On Wednesday October 11th, 2017 officers with the Mason County Special Investigation Unit, along with the assistance of the West Virginia State Police, executed a search warrant at 99 Regina Lane, Ashton Mason Co. WV. During the search of the residence, evidence was recovered leading to the arrest of the occupants. Thomas Glover, age 33, Ashton WV, Stella Turner, age 34, Ashton WV, and Deshawn Gadson, age 19, Detroit MI were all charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin. After arrest, all parties were arraigned by Mason Co. Magistrate Cheryl Ross and bond was set at $50,000.
