The Tyler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting tonight in Sistersville along with Sistersville Police Department and members of the WVSP and WV DNR. Upon investigation this report was found to be false and no one had been shot or injured as the result of a shooting. The suspect who made the report was taken into custody and charged with Filing a False 911 Complaint. The individual was transported to jail.

The Tyler County Sheriff’s Office welcome two new employees during the month of August. Timothy Shreve of Paden City, West Virginia was hired as a Deputy Sheriff. Pictured on the left. Timothy replaced a Deputy who had left the department for other employment. Timothy was previously a patrolman for Paden City and Sistersville Police Department’s. Gavan Renner of Arvilla, West Virginia was hired as the Court Bailiff/Process Server for the department. Pictured on the right. We would like to congratulate both of them on their new positions!

On August 9, 2017 at approximately 07:43 hours, deputies from the Tyler County Sheriffs's Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling through Middlebourne, West Virginia. During the course of the traffic stop investigation, deputies discovered controlled substances within the vehicle. Deputies found 4.6 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle with a street value of $12,800.00 along with prescription pills. Bruce Allen Evou Jr. of St. Clairsville, Ohio was identified as the driver of the vehicle and was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver Marijuana through Tyler County Magistrate Court. He was placed on a $250,000.00 bond and transported to North Central Regional Jail.
