This is from the WV State Police fb, SCAM ALERT: Already this tax season, the WVSP has received information that several citizens in our state have received scam telephone calls from people pretending to be with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). These criminals try to get you to share your personal information, including banking account information, over the phone or possibly even in an email. They use the threat of an arrest to intimidate their victims into complying with their demands. If you receive one of these calls or emails, do not share information your personal information. If you are concerned that the IRS may be trying to reach you, find the telephone number for an IRS office either in a phone book or at www.irs.gov, then contact them directly.
